Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, assaulting the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
