'People are intimidated' - why 'powerhouse' Arsenal are the team to beat.

It's obvious why Arsenal stand as countless pundits' preferred choice to secure the Premier League this season.

Examine their results against Fulham and Crystal Palace in contrast with those equivalent matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have beaten all of them in the current season, but dropped 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race last season.

Defensive Dominance

Arsenal's defensive strength is a primary factor why they are looking well positioned to finally fulfil their title ambition.

They rank top for shutouts (6), goals allowed (3), opposition efforts (72), quality opportunities against (19) and xGA (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the strongest in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Mastery

Their danger from dead balls is well known, but competing clubs still struggle to stop the Gunners from these chances.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a daunting aura. People are just afraid of them and it is wonderful to see."

Championship Pedigree

What is particularly notable about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City on home turf - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they maintain victories, their historic competitors are struggling. This marks the premier instance at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The expectations was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the beginning, having spent around £250m on eight summer additions in search of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the business has so far proven successful in impressive fashion, with his side second top scorers in the league and possessing the strongest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Clean sheets in each of their last three Premier League games
  • 385 minutes without letting in a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across various contests

Former players and analysts have described Arteta's men as a "juggernaut, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now functioning with belief and resolve.
